I'm having a fit right now, much like the one I usually have around Christmas time, but let's stick to the holiday at hand.

Did you know that I didn't realize "Easter" was today until a few days ago? Yeah, and do you know why I didn't? It's March. Why is what's supposed to be Resurrection Sunday in March? Who picks the timing of this holiday anyway? Apparently a pagan, since the holiday from which we get the word "Easter" was just a few days ago. I mean where do you think all the eggs, bunnies and chicks come from? Do you know when Resurrection Sunday should be? A WHOLE FREAKIN' MONTH FROM NOW!!! Resurrection Sunday should be after Passover, and Passover isn't until next month.

I know to some I sound like a hateful bigot, but I'm just sick of this. Yeah, maybe I don't mind lighting candles or incense as forms of worship, because I know those aren't exclusive to just pagans, just the same as poetry (including the rhyming kind), music (including rock) and dancing (yes, dancing) aren't. It's just the fact that Christianity is so mangled with paganism annoys me. Really, what ever happened to being set apart?

Ugh. Somebody stab me in the eye.

ETA: Apparent it's not so pagan after all...but extremely confused. I still think Easter the Resurrection should be celebrated after Passover. After all, how can He be risen if He's not even dead yet?

Was there a time when finding the truth was easy?

I still think it should be celebrated after Passover. It would really make more sense. Grr.

Truth and sense are not always intertwined. After all, isn't it "sense" that a guy who got the tar beat out of him, had a bunch of thorns slapped onto his head, nailed to some wood and allowed to suffocate on his own blood (this is how crucification kills, assuming one is intact to begin with), then stabbed with a Roman spear just to make sure before getting buried in a tomb with a huge rock to block to entrance isn't suppose to come back AT ALL, much less a few days later? Yet, as the quote I used today says, "Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won't stay there."

Religious rites aren't supposed to make sense. They're about the Truth. Sense is easy. Truth isn't.

Not trying to pick on you, just making an observation. ^_^

Yeah, I know. I just get annoyed by these things. I think in assuming the Bible is truth that the dead rising makes perfect sense, because God has that kind of power. Celebrating the Resurrection before the Passover doesn't. It just makes things confusing.

Yeah, I even mentioned it to a few people about whether anyone had thought about how we could have "Easter" a whole month before the Passover.

All I know is that for a long time it's been set to take place just after the first full moon after the spring equinox. However, this early March occurrence hasn't happened since 1913 (which is why nearly everyone doesn't ever remember it happening).

But, I think the real thing is simply that we have a chosen day to celebrate it.
