BCM was interesting last night. It was just...silence, mostly. They showed one of Rob Bell's NOOMA videos (Noise) to start with. Bell talked about Elijah and how God told him to go up on a mountain. There was wind that shook the whole mountain, but God wasn't in the wind. An earthquake, but God wasn't in the earthquake. Fire, but God wasn't in the fire. But then the Bible talks about a "still small voice", which Bell says probably isn't even a sound you can hear, and that it could be said that God is in the silence.
I'm not sure if he's right about that verse, but I understand what he means, and it's true. It's easier to hear God without all the noise, if it's actual sound or our busy lives or our constantly active mind. Take away the other voices and there is no problem hearing Him.

Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God.
