Kingdom Hearts

I know I just wrote something, but I thought I'd put this in a new one. Anyway, I thought about putting this behind a cut, for the spoilage, but since this post will be Kingdom Hearts all the way, if you haven't played it and don't want to know, don't read it, k?
I think Kingdom Hearts has to be one of the greatest games ever created. I think the reason it has pulled people in so much is this story is our story, even if people don't realize it. It's all about strength of heart, but the game makes it clear that purity of heart can go both ways: light or darkness. I remember Cloud telling Sora about how he gave himself to darkness and got so deep he couldn't find the light. And Tarzan saying that our friends are in our hearts. "No heart, no friends." I could go on and on.
The thing that most caught my attention, though, is the story told by who I'll assume to be Kairi's grandmother. The first time I played through it and heard the story, I cried. I promised myself that if I ever played through it again that I would copy it down so I could read it whenever I wanted. Well, that happened a few days ago. Here's the story. Look for parallels.
All verses are from The Scriptures translation. The words Yahweh and Yeshua are written in Hebrew in this version, but because they show up as question marks when I copy them, I substituted.
And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be.
-- Genesis 1:3
For You Yourself light my lamp; Yahweh my Elohim makes my darkness light.
-- Psalms 18:28
Yahweh is my light and my deliverance; Whom should I fear? Yahweh is the refuge of my life; Whom should I dread?
-- Psalms 27:1
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
-- Proverbs 4:18
“If, then, the light that is within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"
-- Matthew 6:23b
And Yeshua called a little child to Him, set him in their midst, and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become as little children, you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens. Whoever then humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the reign of the heavens. And whoever receives one little child like this in My Name receives Me."
-- Matthew 18:2-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim. All came to be through Him, and without Him not even one came to be that came to be. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
-- John 1:1-5
Therefore Yeshua spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.”
-- John 8:12
Yeshua, therefore, said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. And he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you become sons of light.” These words Yeshua spoke, and went off and was hidden from them.
-- John 12:35-36

Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light. Everyone loved the light. Then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves. And darkness was born in their hearts. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared. But small fragments of light survived...in the hearts of children. With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It's the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps, deep within the darkness. That's why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other. But someday, a door to the innermost darkness will open. And the true light will return. So listen, child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. Your heart will shine with it's power and push the darkness away.
