Ok, so one week in Sunday school, the subject of feelings came up, and some things were discussed and what not. I don't remember the whole of it, but there are a few things still floating around in my head. So I thought, why not get some opinions?

Do you think it's possible to manufacture emotion, as in, make yourself feel a certain way? Do you think it's possible to relinquish or get rid of emotions you'd rather not have? How much control do you think we have over our emotions?

People can be extremely stupid sometimes. Example: a comment to someone in a discussion about God's gender.

This is just the Christian concept of God. Shows you Christianity isn't infallible, doesn't it?

If you accept the birth of Jesus Christ was borne upon so human an act as sex between a male father and a female mother, then, I suppose you have to accept God is a man.

But this raises problems, because to accept this, you first have to accept that Jesus/God (as we're all told he is) needed a female mother, and needed a male father.

So God really needed a father? So who was God’s father’s father? = Infinite regression of causes.

Hmm. Once again Christianity falls to pieces when poked ever so slightly by logic.

Alternatively, you could take the Hindu, or even pantheism persepctive – God is neither male or female, God is God.

Period.

...I thought everyone who knows what Christianity is knows that the virgin birth was, uh...the virgin birth. And honestly, if God can create everything that is out of nothing, why couldn't He create sperm? Compare the heavens and earth to sperm and tell me which is harder to create? And it may not have even been sperm. To be honest, I don't know how He did it, and I'm not sure I care. All I'm saying is if He can create the universe, surely He can give a virgin a baby.

*sigh* Sorry. Rant over. And people aren't really stupid. They just want to be right, I guess.
